Merry Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas everyone!!!

Today I'm sharing this year's Christmas card as well as other photos from our Christmas card "photo shoot."

                                        Christmas card 2017 via Vistaprint.com

Since we are back in Reno where we get all 4 seasons and actual snow sometimes, we thought our Christmas card should definitely include some snow. We drove up to Mt. Rose and parked on the side of the road and found a cute spot with beautiful mountains, trees and snow as our backdrop.
It wasn't glamorous whatsoever but I hadn't laughed that hard in a long time. As we walked around to find the perfect shot, we kept sinking into the snow at least 2 feet making it really difficult (and hilarious) to walk around.

This Christmas is going to be one of the best Christmas's I've had in quite awhile. Now that Will and I are back living in Reno, we don't have to switch back and forth between our families for the holidays. We are able to bring my parents with us to Northern California to Will's family's house so we can all be together. (Before when we lived in LA my parents wouldn't drive over the mountains by themselves for fear of getting stuck in the snow)

You have no idea how happy I am to have a big family Christmas again. I know my parents are going to have a wonderful time because Will's family is the nicest family I've ever met and they are so easy to be around.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and happy holiday and I hope you are having a wonderful day surrounded by loved ones! xoxo

Easy Recipe: Chicken and Fried Rice

As a new reader to my blog....you should probably know that I didn't really learn how to cook until my late 20s.
Like...I was clueless and had to youtube things such as "How to dice an onion."

Now at age 32 I've learned a lot and tried fun new recipes, but theres still just something about easy and fast meals that I will always appreciate.

I'll never forget the first year I moved to Los Angeles.... I was probably 23 or 24 and I came home from work and the grocery store and told my roommate I would be making dinner. I ended up warming up some canned chili on the stove, heating up a few hot dogs in the microwave and probably in 10 mins I was serving dinner. Chili dogs!!! My roommate was laughing so hard and said, "You just walked through the door! How did you just make dinner so fast??"

And that was how I used to cook. lol

I never liked cooking because I wanted to eat right away when I was hungry and hated how long cooking took...but I finally learned in order for it to taste appropriate and be healthier for you, it's gotta take some time.

Anyway! I will try to post an easy and simple recipe for you to weekly!

This week's was a very simple meal inspired by Trader Joes.

Ingredients:
Chicken breast (I used already sliced chicken for fajitas)
Trader Joes Vegetable Fried Rice (found in freezer section)
Seasoning for Chicken: black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, turmeric, salt
Low Sodium Soy Sauce or Amino Acids
Coconut Oil

Directions:
Pour the vegetable fried rice in a pan and heat on medium heat until heated and no longer frozen
Season chicken with any seasoning you would like, cook in a separate pan with olive oil or coconut oil, cook until no longer pink, make sure it's fully cooked obviously
Pour a little soy sauce onto your fried rice, stir
Place cooked chicken and cooked vegetable fried rice in Tupperware's for lunches for the week!
Or eat it for dinner!!

It's simple, easy, and affordable. Bon Appetite!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING + APPLE HILL RECAP

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!

Today I'm sharing pictures from our trip to Apple Hill a few weeks ago with our friends Kyle and Amber.
Apple Hill is the cutest little city about 3 hours away from where we live. And it's Fall heaven. There's apple flavored EVERYTHING and the cutest arts and crafts. I'm already dreaming about going back next year and eating all the apple donuts again. haha Yes we tried every kind they offered.
The four of us spent the day looking at crafts, wine tasting, beer tasting and taking fun photos in the pumpkin patch.

For Thanksgiving this year Will and I are spending the day in Reno and hosting and cooking everything at our apartment. I love hosting with Will...it's the second year we've hosted together and I really enjoy planning all the recipes we are going to make, prepping and cooking the food, and having family over. It feels like full blown adulting and I LOVE it!!

Thanksgiving is kindaaaa amazing because not only is it a holiday solely focused around eating but it's also a holiday where we can all reflect on what we are thankful for and really focus on our blessings in life.

This year I am thankful to be back living in my hometown of Reno so we can be closer to family. Being back in Reno has allowed it so my WHOLE family gets together for the holidays. Without Will and I here... my family was sort of separated. So I am grateful and happy for that. I am also thankful for my health and the health of all my loved ones.

I hope you are all enjoying the 4 day weekend and eating delicious food surrounded by loved ones!

Weekly Diary

Happy Monday!!
Okay I'm trying out a new series so tell me what you think and if you find it entertaining. I'm personally obsessed with Refinery 29's Money Diaries. I love reading about random people from all over the world's weekly routines. And as I was reading one the other night I thought it would be kind of fun to log the events of my day and post a full weekly recap every Monday on my blog! Here is the first one. Leave a comment below and let me know what you think!

Thursday
6:45am - Alarm goes off and I snooze it until 7:05. I don't have to wash my hair this morning so woo-hoo! Extra 15 mins of sleep...even thought I really shouldn't.

7:45am - Throwing my coffee, breakfast and snacks together really quickly. I should be out the door no later than 7:45 to make it to work right at 8...but here I am... still rushing around.

8:10am - plop down at my desk and begin sorting through emails and my To-Do List

11:55am - Can't wait any longer, grab my purse and head out for lunch. Today I am picking up my mom to have lunch with her at Raisin Canes! I know...not the healthiest but it's my mom's favorite and I seriously haven't eaten there in probably almost a year.

1:00pm - Back at the office and finish out my work day

5:00pm - Finally 5 o'clock! The last part of the day dragggggged. I leave the office and head to Babies R Us to pick up a baby shower gift for my coworkers party tomorrow. I got the baby sweatpants, baby wipes and pacifiers. All from the registry. Gah nothing gives me more baby fever than seeing baby clothes. I want one sooo bad. :)

7:00pm - Back at home and Will and I have pita pizzas cooking in the oven for dinner. Seriously this is one of our favorite meals. You just can't go wrong.

9:00pm  - In bed browsing my favorite blogs, watching Taylor Swift's new music video for "Ready for It" (umm she looks amazing in this video!! Love it) and doing some blogging of my own.

10:30pm - Fall asleep watching Instagram stories

Friday
6:50am Alarm went off but I snoozed twice. Today is a wash my hair morning so I'm definitely running late getting in the shower at this time.

7:53am - Out the door with coffee and breakfast and lunch packed. Breakfast this morning is two hard boiled eggs.

3:00pm We are having a baby shower for a co-worker. Everyone meets in the conference room and we have snacks, drinks and she opens gifts. Perfect way to end a Friday workday.

5:00pm Go over to my parents and they end up inviting Will and I out for dinner. Will is down so we all head to Steak N Shake.

7:30pm - Back home and helping Will pack for his trip.

10:30pm I pass out butWill ends up tossing and turning all night and doesn't fall asleep until after 2am :(

Saturday
7:00am - Up way too early for a Saturday morning but I'm getting my blood drawn this morning for my annual physical and I need to be there by 7:45!

8:40am - Back home to pick up Will and we rush to the Squeeze In to meet a couple friends for breakfast. I'm so excited! At breakfast this morning there's 12 of us and we reserved a HUGE table and it's just so wonderful seeing all our close friends

10:30am - I take Will to the airport. So sad. He's leaving for 10 days to go to a mutual friend's wedding in Belize!! I'm not going because I thought I'd be pregnant by now and you know...Zika. Turns out I'm not but it's okay... too late now :-/

3:30pm- Back home. I spent alllll afternoon window shopping at the mall. I love getting to take my time and walk up and down every aisle at Target and see all the cute home decor and beauty products they have. I picked these up. I couldn't resist. I also went to Express, The Gap and Bath and Body Works. I bought this candle and oh my goodness. It's a new favorite. It smells amazing!

5:00pm - arrive at my friend Shayda's party. She just got married a few weeks ago and her mom wanted to throw a big party for some close friends and family that didn't make the wedding. I have a great time and end up staying till about 8:30pm

9:00pm For some reason with Will gone I really want to try to relax and take a bath. I've NEVER liked baths.... but something about the idea of a bath tonight just feels right. I take one, last about 15 minutes and I'm out. I got too hot. lol

10:30pm So relaxed I fall asleep in no time

Sunday
10:00am - finally wake up. I woke up at 8 but fell back asleep and slept in until 10. It feels sooooo nice to get to sleep in.

1:00pm I signed up for a free Pilates demo class this afternoon at a studio near our apartment. The class is 40 mins and I'm hooked. I sign up for an 8 class package. I'm so stoked to start getting into pilates on the regular.

3:00pm I started a new show my friends Alicia and Eddie told me is hilarious- Schitt's Creek. I binge watch almost the whole season. It's so funny and I'm obsessed with all the characters. Love it.

8:00pm I take another bath. Im determined to become a bath person dammit! lol This time I last about 20 mins. Still get too hot. I start the podcast Dirty John. It's too soon to say how I feel about it. But it's #1 on the podcast charts right now so I gotta give it a chance.

11:00pm - Watch more episodes of Schitt's Creek and fall asleep.

And that's my week!! Since I started on Thursday it's a short one. I'll keep this going for awhile and see how it goes.
Thanks for stopping by!

T.G.I.F. 10.6.17

Hi everyone!

This week was a tough week because of the tragic events that happened in Las Vegas. I am in complete shock and saddened that someone could do something like this.
This morning on my drive to work it felt like a usual morning, but on the radio they were telling stories of the people who were shot at the concert and survived and my heart broke all over again.  The stories were really touching and reminded me of all the good people in this world and how we can come together and be there for a stranger in need. This week I thank God for his blessings and I pray for everyone that lost a loved one Sunday night or had to be there and witness something so horrific.

Tonight Will and I are driving up to Northern California for my friend's wedding. It's in Mendoncio, CA and I am very excited to celebrate her marriage and see all my closest friends from high school. I hope you have a great weekend!

Organizing For Fall

Happy October 1st!!!
Is there anything better than the first of the month falling on a Sunday so you can totally prep for not only a new month, but a new season as well??
Don't mind the pictures of my closet but I really wanted to show you a real example of how I organize my closet so hopefully it can inspire or help you with your own! Maybe one day I'll have one of those cute walk-in closets but until then this is my reality.

I'm so excited that October is finally here and I am back living in Reno where you can actually feel ALL four seasons. There is a chill in the air, the leaves are orange and yellow, and Starbucks is serving their famous Pumpkin Spice Lattes.

Anyway.... here are a few tips on how to organize your closet for when the colder weather starts to kick in.

1.) Organize your clothes by type
Most of my clothes are hanging so I like to keep the same type of shirts or blouses together so they are easy to find and I don't get overwhelmed when searching for an outfit. Figuring out what to wear is already hard enough, might as well have a cleaner closet to make the process a little easier. I put all casual t-shirts together, work/blouses together, casual long sleeve shirts together, any sort of cardigan or open sweaters together, and all plaid and button up shirts together just to name a few of the different categories I organize by.

2.) Put away summer clothes
Mostly likely as Fall and Winter approaches you won't be reaching for your shorts and tank tops. To make more room in your closet for jackets and bulky sweaters, I suggest pulling out all your summer clothes and folding them and putting them away in a separate dresser drawer. **Tip: While you are pulling out your summer wardrobe, fell free to toss aside the clothes you didn't even touch this summer and put them in their own pile to donate. If you didn't touch them this year, doubtful you will reach for them a year from now.

3.) Pack away the flip flops and sandals
Same goes for shoes! Bring forward your boots, booties and tennis shoes and push those flip flops to the back of your closet. It's helpful to tuck away your summer shoes so they don't get in the way or what you'll actually be wearing.

4.) Don't be afraid to install your own storage
When my husband and I moved into our apartment we noticed right away that both our closets and our linen closet didn't have any shelving. I bought these hanging shelves from Amazon and they worked out perfectly. If you're finding it hard to have all the room you need in your closet, these shelves can give you extra space for clothes  I organize mine by skirts, shorts, workout sweaters, leggings and jeans.

Hope these quick and easy tips help you with your own organizing. Have a great week!

TGIF! 2.10.17

Happy Friday!! This weekend Will and I are flying to Reno to visit our family and friends. I try to visit Reno every 2-3 months. My family came to LA this year for the holidays so I don't think I've been back to Reno since September maybe? I can't even remember honestly.
It's my mom's 71st birthday so we get to celebrate with her on Saturday. I can't wait to see my parents and spend some good quality time with them. Even though it's a quick visit, I know it'll be great.
Have a great weekend!!

January Favorites!

Wow! The first month of 2017 has come and gone! Goodbye January, hello February!
January flew by! I hardly had time to try any new products. But I did have a few items I loved this month that I wanted to include in a favorites post.

Makeup:
Favorite Eye Shadow: Too Faced  'Sweet Peach Eye Shadow Collection Palette'
I received this palette for my birthday from my sister-in-law and I can't even express how excited I was. I've been waiting to get this palette since forever ago when it was limited and sold out in every Sephora. I knew I would love this palette because it's all about the warm peachy-colors. I love browns and reds and pinks for eyeshadow. It's a good palette for an every day look and it's the only eyeshadow I've been reaching for since I got it! Love!

Favorite Mascara: Too Faced 'Better Than Sex'
I've heard of this mascara for years but didnt actually buy it and try it until this month. It's safe to say, when a product is talked about and hyped as much as this mascara is, there's usually a good reason. This mascara is amazing. The thick brush makes your lashes extra long and adds a ton of volume. I don't think I'll ever go back to any other mascara. I'm so glad I finally tried this mascara. It's a new staple in my makeup bag.

Hair:
Favorite Hair Product: Unite 7Seconds Leave In Conditioner
I've actually been using this product for awhile but I felt it was important enough to mention. I bought this leave in conditioner spray back in May and I use it every time I wash my hair, and I still have it! It lasts forever so even though it's around $20...it's well worth it. I spray this on wet hair and it gets rid of any tangles immediately. It's also really helped my hair feel stronger and softer.

Food:
Favorite Recipe: Chicken Cordon Bleu
I have never attempted to make Chicken Cordon Bleu before. Honestly, I'm not sure if I have even ever eaten it. lol But my friend Emily sent me this recipe and I gave it a try...and it was so easy and delicious. I mean...you can't really go wrong with chicken stuffed with cheese and ham.  I tried the mayo/dijon spread method instead of dredging the chicken in egg, and it worked out perfectly! Learn something new every day! haha

TV/Movie
TV Show: This Is Us
Omgosh... I'm sure you've heard all the hype of NBC's new show This Is Us. And if you arent watching, you need to. I love this show because every episode I learn some sort of life lesson for myself, even if it's just how to be a better person. It's heartwarming and hopeful and a show I feel everyone needs to be watching to help their lives feel a little brighter.

TGIF! 2.3.17

Yay Friday!
This weekend we have a couple of things planned that I am very excited about. Saturday we are going to the LA Zoo for the first time EVER for my friend's son's 2nd birthday. And Sunday is my favorite holiday of the year...SUPERBOWL SUNDAY!! Who are you guys rooting for? I don't have a preference for either team so I'll probably root for the Falcons since they are the underdog. But I think it would be cool to see Tom Brady win his 5th Superbowl. The most any QB has ever won. Like wow-za. He's good.
And of course I am SO stoked to see Lady Gaga's halftime performance.
Have a great weekend!!

Birthday Weekend Recap + 4 Amazing Napa Wineries

Sweater: Express One Eleven | Shoes: Target | Sunglasses: Ray-ban 62 mm Aviator

For my 32nd birthday we decided a little trip up to Northern Cali would be the perfect getaway. I love visiting San Francisco. It's like a mini New York and I love city life. We arrived to SF on Friday and spent the day walking around Union Square and went to an amazing dinner that night at Hops & Hominy. Definitely check out this restaurant if you are ever in SF. Really great food and drinks and our waiter was so nice and attentive. We tried almost everything on the appetizer menu. The mac and cheese, smoked alligator sausage, charred octopus and the spicy chicken wings were all DELICIOUS.
Saturday morning we woke up and drove about an hour away to Napa where we checked into the Andaz Napa Hotel. What a gorgeous hotel!
We ordered a car service to drive us around for the day since we knew we'd be wine tasting at 4 different wineries. It was such a fun day and Napa itself was just stunning! Even though it was a little rainy the day we were there, you could still enjoy and see how beautiful this city is.
I thought it'd be helpful to link the 4 wineries we visited in case any readers are planning a visit soon.

Sterling Vineyards: This winery is very appealing because they have a gondola ride that takes you up the hill to the winery. You get gorgeous views of the vineyard while on the gondola ride and also when you reach the winery itself. We walked around and they have the wine tasting at different stations throughout.

Castello Di Amorosa: Oh my goodness. This winery is a MUST see. As soon as I started researching wineries in Napa and came across this one, I knew we had to go see it. Castello Di Amorsa is a gorgeous castle which took over 10 years to build.  Once you arrive, you suddenly feel like you have stepped out of the states, and have entered Europe in the medieval times. The history of it is pretty amazing. I wish I had done the tour when I was there, and I definitely plan to when we go back in the future.

Mumm Napa: I am more of a champagne drinker than a wine drinker so when my husband mentioned there were some champagne focused wineries (do you still call them wineries? lol), I knew we had to visit them. Our first champagne winery was Mumm Napa. We sat out on their cute patio and did a champagne tasting. They gave us 5 full glasses to try, and I can assure you, this is the place that will get you the biggest buzz. lol Sure, you don't have to drink the entire glass, and you could just take a sip to taste and try it, but who does that?? This is definitely a fun place to go if you are having a girls trip or with a big party. Everyone will have a great time here!

Domaine Chandon California: This was our last winery of the day. This was another beautiful and fun winery where we got to taste different champagnes. There's a beautiful outdoor area where you can sit and have lunch or snacks while you champagne taste. And the food was delicious.
