What I'm Loving (and Hating) Right Now

I'm all about movies right now. It's awards season so you can take the girl outta L.A. but you can't take L.A. outta the girl! Meaning I'm super stoked about all the nominated movies right now. I'm used to movie screeners being passed around at the office, invites to  Awards shows to come in the mail for my clients, Hollywood Blvd to be completely closed down for the red carpet to go in.
Today I was blabbing to my boss about movies I've seen and which movies were nominated for an Oscar this year and I could tell she was not nearly as interested as I was.

One of my new goals this year is to see movies more often. I really want to take advantage of  the matinee prices on Tuesdays at the movie theaters so I discussed with Will and we're really going to try to see a movie every Tuesday night. Or at least every other week.

I wanted to share with you a few movies I've seen recently and other things I'm currently loving.

Jumanji

Will and I saw the new Jumanji last night and Will had to basically beg me to go. Nothing about this movie interested me at all. I had never even seen the original! But he said he's heard great things so I was a good sport and we went.
...And you guys...
...It was really good.
I seriously enjoyed it. It was HILARIOUS and filled with action and comedy and the storyline was quick and smart. It was so entertaining and fun and The Rock, Kevin Hart and Jack Black have the best chemistry onscreen. Their characters had me laughing the whole time.

I, Tonya

I had no idea this was a movie (I know I must live under a rock) until I saw Allison Janney win for Best Supporting Actress at the Golden Globes a few weeks ago. I was like "WHAT?! A Tonya Harding movie and Margot Robbie is playing Tonya?? I'm so in!"
I went and saw this movie last Sunday with my friend Angeline and I walked away loving it even more than I thought I would. When this all went down I was in the 4th grade. My mom and I would watch every single ice skating show on t.v. I knew who every major ice skater was from Nancy Kerrigan, Oksana Baiul to Kristy Yamagucci to Michelle Kwan!
Seeing flashbacks of Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan brought me back to my childhood and it felt like it was just yesterday I was watching all the drama unfold on the tv screen.
I, like most of the world, was convinced that Tonya was evil and knew about the plan and was just an awful and trashy person. Now after seeing this movie...I really think twice now about the whole circumstance. Poor Tonya, since she was born she never stood a chance at life. But boy she was talented and she was a fighter! To come from nothing and make something of yourself takes A LOT of hard work.

Podcast: Dirty John

I started this Podcast in October but never got past the first episode. It didn't grab my attention right away. I decided to give it another chance this week and now I am HOOKED! I know I'm late to the party and most of you have already listened to this podcast but if you haven't, I'm suggesting you check this one out.
It's a true story about this shady man who quickly marries a woman in Newport Beach California he meets online. Her children do not trust him whatsoever and unfortunately their instincts are 100% right. Creeeeeepy.

NOT LOVING RIGHT NOW

The Bachelor

Ughhhh The Bachelorrrrrrrrr.
Yes I'm probably still going to watch the whole season because it's What. I. Do. but so far 3 episodes in and I am feeling all sorts of blahhhhhh. I knew Arie was going to be a bad idea. I knew it I knew it I knew it. I think the whole world knew it when (out of nowhere ) the producers announced the next Bachelor would be Arie (RIP Perfect Peter).
This is why I'm not a fan:
1.) I feel the pressure of being the Bachelor makes it so he's not acting like himself. He's being a robotic fake version of himself to come off as hot and charming to these girls but it's actually having the opposite effect.
2.)  His salt and pepper hair is not attractive. Some guys can pull it off and Arie is not one of them. 3.) Arie has no swag and no smolder. It's like watching an average Joe be the Bachelor and the Bachelor is supposed to be some fantasy of a guy who's the total package that we can all fantasize about for 10 weeks, or however long this show is.
Here's to hoping this ish gets better in the next few weeks.
